Built for Bladesmiths Who Want Heat Treat Under Their Own Roof

The Hot Shot 18K was designed with input from blacksmiths and knife makers to give you precise, repeatable heat treat results in your own shop. Run a single blade or a batch — your shop, your schedule, no outsourcing required.

The 18"Lx6.5"Wx4.5"H interior chamber gives you enough room to run multiple blades at once or a single larger piece, making each firing count.

It reaches 2200°F, which covers the heat treat range for the vast majority of knife steels — carbon, tool steels, and most stainless. It runs on a standard 120V household outlet at 15 amps — no electrical upgrade needed.

Every Hot Shot oven is built in West Bend, Wisconsin and ships with the brand's patent-pending Cool-to-Touch Technology — the exterior stays safe to handle even at full temperature, thanks to a fan-cooled stainless steel core inside a powder-coated shell. Kanthal A1 heating elements, a Type K thermocouple, and a solid-state relay come standard.

Included with every order

Full operator manual, a 3 year limited warranty through Hot Shot, and free freight shipping to the US Lower 48.

You'll pick your digital controller at checkout:

  • TAP&Go — the simplest option. Tap your desired temperature on the controller and it manages the firing automatically. Set-point only, not ramp/hold programmable.
  • TAP2 — full-color touchscreen with unlimited program storage, built-in Wi-Fi, and a free mobile app for monitoring and notifications.
  • Bartlett Genesis Spark — touchscreen with industry presets, 30 custom programs, Wi-Fi for software updates and remote monitoring via the Bartlett Kiln Aid app.

Not sure which one fits your workflow? That's exactly the kind of thing we help with.

The 18K is the perfect knifemaker's kiln

I've had the Hot Shot 18K in my shop for about two months and it's been flawless. Consistent temps, easy programming, and the compact size fits perfectly on my bench. For a home bladesmith this is an excellent choice. Ordered from Pro Kiln Supply — fast shipping and great service.

I bought the Hot Shot 18K to heat treat my own blades, and I’m happy with the decision.
