Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run a kiln in my garage or basement?
Yes — that's exactly what these are for. The main things to plan are a suitable outlet/circuit, clearance from walls and combustibles, and ventilation. A downdraft kiln vent makes indoor and basement firing much cleaner. Our Installation & Safety guide walks through it.
Will a home kiln work on my normal outlet?
Many smaller models run on standard 120V household power; it's best to put the kiln on its own circuit. Larger cone 10 kilns need a 240V dedicated circuit — often a "light upgrade" an electrician can add. Check the model's amperage and see our Electrical & Power guide.
Will the kiln fit through my door?
The kilns in this collection are chosen to pass through standard doorways. If you have a tight stairwell or narrow basement entry, tell us the model you're considering and we'll confirm the dimensions before you buy.
Do I need special ventilation?
