The Olympic 2318E is the entry point into the 23″-wide stackable line — a 23⅜″ × 18″ chamber holding 4.7 cubic feet. The extra width over the 18″ models is what most studio potters are actually after: wider shelves mean more pieces per layer and far less Tetris when you're loading a glaze firing.
Every 23″ and 28″ Olympic stackable comes with a lid lift assist as standard equipment, so the lid on a kiln this size opens and closes with one hand instead of a wrestling match.
The body comes apart into sections, which is how a kiln this large gets into a basement studio or through a standard doorway in the first place — and it means future element or brick work happens on one section instead of the whole kiln. Inside, Olympic's proven electrical box design uses heat shields with top and bottom perforations to keep components cool, and balanced heating elements keep the chamber firing evenly under any load.

Bartlett KilnStar digital controller, lid lift assist, pilot light, 8″ metal stand, stainless steel jacket, observation plugs with peephole plugs, full instruction manual, and a 2-year limited kiln warranty through Olympic.
