Features

The lid of the GTS 24 is constructed of a fiber material that provides excellent thermal properties along with light weight. This design allows the heating elements to be positioned on the surface for maximum heat transfer and firing efficiency.

The GTS 24 is a top loading design and offers a chamber 24" wide x 24" long x 13.5" deep. The rim of the chamber is 32" off the floor which is at waist height or lower making it very easy to load and position your glass.

The GTS 24 is constructed of both fiber and firebrick.

The entire lid is constructed of fiber to reduce the overall weight of the lid as well as severely limiting lid debris. The walls and floor are made of firebrick which is desired in a glass kiln as it stores heat in the beginning of the firing and acts to smooth out temperature swings. It then releases heat slowly at the completion of the firing resulting in very effective annealing. It's just beautiful.

The swing view is a pivoting, swing-up enclosure that allows you to rotate the control to a comfortable viewing and programming angle. Once you're done, lay it back down to see it from across your studio. It's that simple.

The swing view pairs well with touchscreen controls like the TAP II, Icon+ and Icon as viewing angle can be perfectly aligned. You'll love it.

The GTS 24 is equipped with a 2 position lid vent. The lower vent position props the lid by about an inch. Perfect for venting off adhesives and other low temperature binding materials. The upper vent position props the lid by about 4 inches. Perfect for speeding up the cooling process.

The GTS 24 incorporates our Relay Access Port for simple, no-panel-off relay replacement. Simply remove the access plate to gain access to the mechanical relays. There's no need to remove the control panel and dig into the internal wiring. It's absolutely simple and effective and all it takes is a screwdriver!

To assist you in replacing worn items we have included a maintenance parts tag on the GTS 24 indicating the proper Evenheat part numbers for anticipated maintenance items.

The GTS 24 is standard equipped with a power interrupt switch which removes electrical power from all heating elements if the lid is opened.

This is important for those who may access the kiln during firing such as glass manipulation.

Quiet Drive Solid State Relay

Evenheat's patented Quiet Drive Solid State Relay is hands down the best investment you can make in your kiln!

With no moving parts, this relay is able to be triggered up to 60 times a second as opposed to the upper limit of 10 times a second on the default mechanical relay. This means incredibly tight temperature control ensuring each and every one of your firings is as accurate as possible.

The Quiet Drive uses a special method call "Zero Crossing" that will ensure that the heating elements are off when the voltage is at 0V - Giving your heating elements a break so that they will last longer, and you'll save energy!

The best part though? Since there are no moving parts - the Quiet Drive Solid State relay should never need replacing! You will save money and time by never needing to worry about this in the future!

Controller Selection

Evenheat has close relationships with the manufacturers of a variety of digital controllers. This means you will have nothing but the best the best in terms of performance and accuracy in your firings.

With a selection of multiple controllers available - you can choose exactly what fits your needs.

Our favorite part though: When ordered with the Wi-Fi Dongle, you can control everything from any device! Prefer to work on your computer or tablet - how about your phone?

With an internet connection to your TAP Smart Controller, updates from SDS Industries can be applied to your controller automatically - ensuring you always have the most up-to-date software for years to come!

Easily adjust the in-progress firing, skip steps, and view all graphical information on your firing with just a "TAP"!

The amount of time you save by working with the TAP Smart Controller pays for itself for years to come - you'll be so happy with this investment that you won't know how you managed so long without it.

The TAP Smart Controller supports the Loud Alarm option.

Rampmaster 3

The Rampmaster 3 is built from Bartlett Instruments V6-CF platform and is designed primarily for glass work but works well for other applications including heat treating. The Rampmaster 3 features dedicated buttons and readout and is offered to those who don't want a touchscreen.

As with all of our controls the Rampmaster 3 is paired with a low-error Special Limits thermocouple for very precise temperature sensing. Match it up with our Quiet Drive Solid State relay system and treat yourself to some serious performance with an old-school vibe.

Icon+

The Icon+ starts with Bartlett's well-regarded Genesis platform and adds low-error Special Limits thermocouples for incredible precision. We also fit the Icon+ with a non-metallic faceplate for exceptional Wi-Fi reception for the Bartlett mobile App. These added features take the Icon+/Genesis to a performance level found nowhere else.

Programming and use is easy and straight-foward. Performance is legendary and shines even brighter when paired with our Quiet Drive Solid State relay system.

The Icon+ represents the ultimate combination of Bartlett control prowess and Evenheat design to offer the highest performing Genesis based control available.

Icon

The Icon is built around Bartlett's new Spark platform and brings touchscreen design to the market at a lower price point.

The Icon / Spark was rigorously field-tested by Bartlett, Evenheat and others over the latter course of 2023. Programming was found to be clean and simple. User interaction with the display was deemed excellent. As expected our Quiet Drive Solid State relay system performed beautifully.

As with all Evenheat control designs, the Icon adds to an existing control platform with improvements like low-error Special Limits thermocouples for precise temperature sensing and non-metallic faceplates for excellent Wi-Fi reception for the Bartlett mobile App.

Rolling Option

The GTS 24 is easily made mobile with our rolling option.

The GTS 24 base is equipped to accept our casters. No frame or extra hardware required. Simply attach the casters to the standard base and you're ready to go!

Casters are not factory installed. You will install them when you first set up your kiln. It's designed to be easy and it is. They can always be added later as well.

Furniture Kit

Furniture Kits are necessary accessories for any kiln owner as firing directly on the kiln floor is not only bad for the kiln, but your pieces as well. In addition to this, they're also useful! A furniture kit will allow you to stack multiple shelves on top of one another in order to maximize the useable space when firing smaller pieces.

If you have one that will fit this kiln size already, then you're in luck! But if not, you'll want to ensure you add this to your order as well.

Furniture Kit includes:

1 - Shelf - 20" x 20" x 3/4" (2.8 square feet)
4 - 1" Posts
1 - 6 Reed Haik Brush
1 - 24oz. Shelf Primer - Hotline Hi-Fire Brand

Kiln furniture can be special ordered separately, but if done so the cost is ~10-20% higher and will incur a separate shipping charge. It's best to include this on your initial order of the kiln.

* Received shelves may contain surface imperfections such as scratches, discoloration or rough edge. These possible imperfections are understood and accepted by the buyer.

FAQ - KILNS

What to consider when buying a Kiln

1. What are you firing?
Different materials have different temperature requirements. Pottery and stoneware need to reach cone 6–10 (around 2200–2350°F), while glass fusing works at lower temperatures but demands very precise, programmable cooling. Knowing your primary material upfront narrows your options significantly.

2. How much volume do you need?
Think about how many pieces you fire per week. Hobbyists and home studios generally do well with kilns under 5 cubic feet. Working artists typically need 5–10 cubic feet, and classroom or production studios often require 10+. A good rule of thumb: buy slightly larger than you think you need — you can always fire a half-full kiln, but you can't fire a piece that doesn't fit.

3. Check your electrical setup before you buy
Most mid-to-large kilns require a 240V dedicated circuit, which may need to be installed by a licensed electrician. Smaller kilns may run on standard 120V. Always check the kiln's amperage requirements against your existing panel before purchasing — electrical upgrades can add $200–$500 to your setup cost.

4. Manual vs. digital controller
Manual kilns use switches you adjust by hand throughout the firing, requiring you to stay close. Digital controllers let you program a firing schedule and walk away. For most potters today, a digital controller is worth the extra cost — the results are more consistent and the convenience is hard to give up once you've had one.

5. Don't forget ventilation
Kilns release fumes from clay, glazes, and organic materials during firing. A downdraft vent system is strongly recommended for any indoor studio. It protects your health, improves firing results, and extends the life of your elements. Budget around $150–$300 for a quality vent, and factor it into your total setup cost from the start.

6. Think about long-term running costs
The purchase price is just the beginning. Heating elements need replacing every 100–200 firings ($100–$300 depending on kiln size). Electricity costs $2–$8 per firing depending on your kiln size and local rates. You'll also need kiln furniture — shelves, posts, and stilts — which are typically sold separately and are essential from day one.

What size kiln do I need for my studio?

The right size depends on how much you fire and how often. Hobby potters or small home studios generally do well with a compact kiln (under 5 cubic feet), while working artists and classroom studios benefit from a larger kiln like the Olympic Champ XL. Consider how many pieces you fire per week — if you're constantly waiting to fill a small kiln, it's time to size up. It's usually better to buy slightly larger than you think you need.

What's the difference between a top-loading and front-loading kiln

Top-loading kilns are the most common for pottery and ceramics. They're more energy-efficient, easier to load evenly, and generally more affordable. Front-loading kilns (also called car kilns or door kilns) are better suited for large sculptural work or production studios where loading heavy pieces at waist height is more practical. For most potters, a top-loader like the Champ XL is the right choice.

What electrical requirements does this kiln need?

Electrical requirements vary by kiln model and size. Many mid-size and larger kilns require a dedicated 240V circuit, while some smaller models may operate on 120V. It is important to check the kiln’s specifications for the correct voltage, amperage, outlet type, and breaker requirements before installation. A qualified electrician should handle installation if a new circuit or outlet is needed. Never use a kiln with an outlet or circuit that does not match the manufacturer’s requirements.

Can I fire both pottery and glass in the same kiln?

Yes, in some cases — but it depends on the kiln and how you plan to use it. Many electric kilns can be used for both pottery and glass, but the firing schedules for each are very different. Glass typically requires slower, more precise heating and cooling cycles to help prevent cracking, while pottery firing follows different temperature and timing needs. If you plan to fire both, a kiln with a programmable controller is especially helpful for managing and switching between firing programs. Always check the kiln manufacturer’s recommendations before using it for multiple materials.

What cone temperatures can this kiln reach?

The cone temperature a kiln can reach depends on the specific model. Many ceramic kilns are designed to fire anywhere from low-fire ranges like cone 06–04 up through mid-fire and, in some cases, high-fire ranges such as cone 8–10. Always check the kiln’s product specifications to confirm its maximum cone rating and make sure your clay and glaze are compatible with that firing range.

Do I need a kiln vent, and is one included?

A kiln vent is strongly recommended, though it may not be included with your kiln purchase. During firing, kilns release fumes from clay, glazes, and organic materials — these can be harmful in an enclosed space. A downdraft vent system pulls air through the kiln and exhausts it outside, protecting both you and your work. Even if your studio has good airflow, a dedicated vent improves firing results and extends the life of your elements and lid.
