The 146 Slider is a clamshell designed square kiln with a sliding floor for ease of loading & glass manipulation. A sleek wood handle keeps things cool so you can concentrate on things hot. The 146 Slider lid brace arm is built into the side of the kiln and locks in place when the firing chamber is opened. When the 146 Slider floor is fully extended it measures 35 ½” in length front-to-back. Outside dimensions when closed are 22” front-to-back x 30” wide.
Glass firing kilns are used for fusing and forming glass shapes, precious metal clay, and heat-treating. 120-volt glass fusing, and jewelry models are equipped with a lid element for the fusing segment of the glass firing and a body element for the ramping up and down and annealing segments of the firing. A toggle switch is on the electrical box to designate either the lid or body element to heat during the firing. Only one of the elements can be used at a time because of the limited power of 120 volts. If the selector switch remains in the neutral position, neither element will heat. Models come equipped with a pilot light, attached 8″ tall angle iron stand, stainless steel jacket, peephole plug, lid wedge, and instruction manual. The Bartlett Instruments KilnStar digital controller equips the 146 Slider.
