Big Kiln, Smaller Electrical Footprint
Here's the thing about most large studio kilns. They demand a lot of power, and a lot of garages and home studios just aren't wired for it. The Jen-Ken AF JK2 (also called the JK Squared) is the answer to that problem. You get a 27" x 22" chamber with 9 cubic feet of capacity, but it only pulls 36 amps on a standard 240V circuit. That's a meaningful difference if your panel is already running tight, or if you're trying to avoid expensive electrical upgrades just to get a kiln up and running.
Inside, you've got room for serious work. Dinnerware sets, large vessels, sculpture, and full glaze loads all fit comfortably. The 22" depth also makes loading more comfortable, since you can actually reach the bottom of the chamber without acrobatics.
This kiln is built with hand selected 2300°F refractory brick, which gives you better heat insulation than a lot of comparably priced kilns. That translates to more efficient firings, more even temperatures across the chamber, and elements that don't get pushed harder than they need to be. The kind of build that quietly pays off over years.
The AF JK2 fires up to 2300°F (Cone 8), which covers earthenware, low and mid fire stoneware, glaze work, and your everyday bisque firings. It plugs into a standard NEMA 6-50 240V outlet, so installation is much simpler than direct wired alternatives.
Included with every order
A heavy duty stand sized for this kiln, the full operator manual, a solid state relay (SSR) for tighter temperature control and longer element life, a 2 year limited warranty through Jen-Ken, and free freight shipping to the US Lower 48.
The AF JK2 ships standard with the Orton AutoFire 3 Key controller, which comes preloaded with all the cone firing schedules plus 6 user programs for your own custom firings. If you want more flexibility, you can upgrade at checkout to the AutoFire 12 Key, the touchscreen AutoFire Slide, or the TAP Smart Controller with Wi Fi so you can run firings from your phone or tablet.
