A Lampworking Kiln That Doubles as a Fusing Kiln. 11" Wide, 9" Tall, With a 4" Flip Door.
The AF3P 11/9 with 4" Door is built for lampworkers who also want the option to fuse and slump small glass. The interior is 11" wide by 9" tall with 0.55 cubic feet of working space, generous enough for most lampworking pieces, with a 4" front flip door for loading beads, marbles, and sculptural pieces straight off the torch.
What makes this kiln genuinely versatile is the included brick plug. When you don't need the front flip door, slot the brick plug into the opening and you've converted your lampworking kiln into a regular brick kiln, ready for fusing and slumping work. Two kilns in one footprint, no compromise on either job. For lampworkers who occasionally make a fused piece, or fusers who occasionally do flamework, that flexibility is hard to beat at this size.
It runs on standard 120V household power with a regular NEMA 5-15 plug. No electrician, no special outlet, no studio rewiring. Plug it into the wall next to your torch and fire. Maxes out at 1500°F, the right range for annealing soft glass and boro, plus full fuse and slumping work within that temperature window.
Included with every order
Shelf, post, kiln wash, base brick, brick plug for door conversion, Orton AF3P 3-button digital controller, and the manual.
Who Is This Kiln For?
The AF3P 11/9 with 4" Door is a specialty kiln with a specific kind of artist in mind. Here's how to tell if that's you.
✓ Lampworkers and flameworkers who need reliable annealing
The 4" front flip door lets you load pieces straight off the torch without losing chamber heat. If you've been working without a dedicated annealer, this is the upgrade.
✓ Bead and marble artists working at larger sizes
11" wide and 9" tall is generous for a lampworking kiln. Larger beads, sculptural marbles, and pieces that won't fit through a smaller bead-door opening fit comfortably here.
✓ Glass artists who work in both flamework and fusing
The brick plug conversion is a real feature, not a gimmick. If you flame work most of the time but occasionally do small fused or slumped pieces, this kiln handles both jobs without making you buy a second kiln.
✓ Teachers, classrooms, and apartment studios
Small footprint, 55 lb weight, and 120V plug-in operation mean you can fit this kiln in tight spaces, set it up in classrooms, or run it next to a torch in a home studio.
For a kiln you'll fire often, the Solid State Relay (SSR) is a worthwhile upgrade. It gives you tighter temperature control, longer element life, and quieter cycling, and tends to outlast the standard mechanical relay by a wide margin. The optional metal stand brings the kiln to a more comfortable working height next to your torch and gives it room to breathe in the studio.
