The Industry-Defining Lamp Working Kiln, Reengineered
In the early 1990s, a true lamp working kiln — now known as the 9169GS — introduced a feature that changed flame work glass equipment for good: smaller accessible "bead doors" that let artists garage multi-sectional vessels and reheat them to maintain core heat before final annealing, minimizing stress to the piece. Aim was the first kiln manufacturer to bring this design to market.
The P-91 is the latest version of that original design — same internal dimensions and familiar silhouette, but built with no off-the-shelf parts. Every metal component is laser-cut and manufactured in-house for precision, consistency, and a refined overall look. Designed by glass workers for glass workers.
Key Features
Five Individually Adjustable Bead Doors — main door design offering versatile, highly functional accessibility
10° Angled Chamber Face — produces even heat throughout the interior and ensures a tight, long-wearing door seal
304 Stainless Steel Bead Doors — built to handle sustained high heat
Pressure-Assisted Door Design (patent pending) — doors firmly hold any position, fully adjustable
No Fiber Board Insulation — fiber board is a major source of heat leakage and shrinkage; the P-91 avoids it entirely in lids, main doors, and bead doors
Compact Counterweight Design — perfectly balanced main door, fully adjustable tension, fits tighter studio spaces
Fast Heat-Up — reaches 1000°F+ in approximately 20–25 minutes in most cases
Precise Thermocouple Placement — accurate temperature reading throughout the chamber
In-House Custom Hardware — handles, hinges, and arms all designed and manufactured by Aim, not off-the-shelf parts
Pre-Fabricated for Accessories — ready for rod rests, upgraded relays, modified hinges, and other upgrades at purchase or later
Wide Range of Programmable Digital Controllers — options designed specifically for lamp working
