Most kilns are designed around standard coils, and standard coils wear out. That's just how it goes. What makes the Jen-Ken AF 2822 Mega Coil different is right in the name. Jen-Ken took their proven 3" brick kiln and dropped in oversized, super heavy gauge Mega Coils, one per brick. More element material means more life, which is why these kilns typically run 10 to 15 years longer than other kilns of the same size. If you fire often, that's a big deal.
When you do eventually need to swap a coil, you're not waiting weeks for a repair tech. The Mega Coils use color coded wiring that uncouples in seconds, and you can do the whole change yourself in about 10 minutes. That alone has saved our customers serious downtime over the years.
Inside, you've got a 28" wide by 22" deep chamber with 8 cubic feet of capacity. That's a solid size for working potters and small production studios, with plenty of room for dinnerware, vessels, sculpture, and full glaze loads. The 3" firebrick walls hold heat well, so your firings stay efficient and your elements don't get pushed harder than they need to be.
The AF 2822 fires up to 2300°F (Cone 8) on the standard 240V at 42 amps setup with a NEMA 6-50 plug. It's a great range for earthenware, low and mid fire stoneware, glaze work, and bisque firings. Want to push higher into cone 10 territory? Give us a call and we'll talk through your options.

You'll choose your digital controller at checkout. The Orton AutoFire 12 Key ships standard with full cone fire schedules, 9 user programs, and a 60 amp mercury relay. And if you want to run the kiln from your phone or tablet over Wi Fi, the TAP Smart Controller is the way to go.
