An Easy, Affordable Way to Start Firing at Home
The 129E is a compact 120-volt top-loading electric kiln — the lowest-risk way to start firing at home. It runs on ordinary household 120V power (no 240V service or electrician needed), comes on a tall stand at a comfortable loading height, and ships with the Bartlett KilnStar digital controller ready to fire.
Before you order — check your outlet
The 129E draws 16 amps and uses a NEMA 5-20 plug on a dedicated 20-amp circuit. A NEMA 5-20 receptacle looks like a normal outlet but has one sideways T-shaped slot. If you only have standard 15-amp outlets, an electrician can swap the receptacle and breaker — usually a quick, inexpensive job. Give us a call if you're not sure what you have and we'll help you figure it out.
✅ Best for: Beginners and hobbyists firing at home without 240V service. Great for test tiles, jewelry, PMC, enamels, and small ceramic pieces up to cone 6. Schools and community studios also use this model for introductory ceramics.
❌ Not ideal for: Cone 10 stoneware or porcelain — you'll want a 240V kiln like the 1818HE for that. Also too small for production work or firing more than a few pieces at a time.
